About the Senatorial Scholarship
The Senatorial Scholarship is a need-based award for students in Maryland’s 43rd District pursuing higher education. The scholarship automatically renews each academic year as long as the student remains enrolled in an eligible institution. Application Process & Timeline

To ensure your application is processed as quickly as possible, please read all instructions carefully and submit as much information as possible. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and decisions are typically sent in July 2026.

Already receiving the Senatorial Scholarship? You do not need to apply again. The scholarship renews each year automatically as long as you remain enrolled in an eligible institution. If you have questions about your renewal, please contact our office directly.​

Important Information for Applicants

• Out-of-State Students: If you plan to attend an out-of-state institution, you must complete a Unique Major Application with MHEC and receive approval to qualify for this scholarship.

• FAFSA or MHEC One App Requirement: All applicants must submit a FAFSA by June 1st. If you are not eligible for FAFSA, you must submit an application through the MHEC One App to be considered.​
