Eligibility for a Senatorial Scholarship

  • You must live within the 43rd District. Verify your Legislative District HERE

  • Be enrolled full or part-time;

  • Accepted to or enrolled as an undergraduate, graduate, or professional studies student at two- or our-year Maryland college or university or an MHEC-approved private career school;

  • Completed the FAFSA application prior to submission of the Senatorial Scholarship form.

  • If you are an Undocumented Student, you must fill out the MHEC One Application (Link) by June 30th, 2024.

Important Information for 2024:


  • The Priority Submission deadline for FAFSA is March 1st, 2024.

  • 2024 - 2025 Senatorial Scholarship is May 31, 2024 at 11:59pm.

The awarding of Senatorial Scholarships will begin in June, to be paid directly to your higher education institution.

Please allow 4-6 weeks for the Award to be visible in your MDCAPS account. These awards automatically renew for each semester you are in school. Once awarded, scholarship amounts cannot be increased after the first year.
